The Weekend Bravely is a (mostly) weekly round-up of stories you probably missed, but shouldn’t.
He’s back and fyred up! After spending four years in prison for fraud, Fyre Festival promoter Billy McFarland is ready for act two. Specifically, he’s trying to round up investors for Fyre Festival II, which is a curious name for a festival reboot since Fyre Festival I never actually happened. I’m guessing this is a party most people will take a hard pass on attending. Bonus, Variety’s copy editor should teach a journalism masterclass on headline writing. (via Variety)
The final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has dropped. When it debuted in 2017, the series was one of the first streaming shows to become a water cooler hit and spawn think pieces. Now, after five years, it’s coming to an end and it feels like you’re saying goodbye to a really good friend. (via The Daily Beast)
It might have taken him 30 years, but Danny Bonaduce has finally found his place - and it’s on the radio. The Seattle Times’ Pacific Northwest Magazine looks at the life and career of Bonaduce, who now hosts a popular radio show in Seattle. The saddest part is finding out that Partridge Family superstar David Cassidy’s last words were “so much wasted time”. (via Seattle Times)
The murder of Cash app founder Bob Lee just keeps getting weirder. The Daily Beast scooped that the night he was murdered Lee spent time at Khazar Momeni’s apartment. Khazar is the sister of Nima Momeni, who has been arrested in Lee’s killing. It’s too convoluted to summarize, so head over to TDB and read it for yourself. Also, there are heart signs. What I’m watching: I’m re-watching Happy Endings on Hulu and I’d forgotten what a sharp and complex comedy it is. Probably my #1 vote for a show canceled too soon.
What I’m reading: She Said, by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey. Here’s hoping the book is as riveting as the under-appreciated movie.
What I’m listening to: My company, Astro, has a Spotify playlist and it’s good! Check out The Daily Astro for a great while-you-work playlist.
